HH Sheikh Mohammed shared the cabinet’s decision to approve “a multiple-entry tourist visa for all nationalities to strengthen the UAE’s status as a global economic capital”.
This is undoubtedly great news to many intending to visit the country frequently. And whilst it’s difficult to draw conclusions without seeing the finer details, it’s likely that those nationalities and individuals currently permitted to perform land border visa runs, will need to make sure they exit on the date of visa expiry, to reset the full visa term.
These updates are also in line with the progress achieved by the UAE in the area of global competitiveness and are expected to attract more investors, entrepreneurs, talents and scientists, as well as boost the country’s status as an international tourism destination.
Since the start of 2021, the UAE introduced three new updates to residence and tourist visas, which are a Remote work Visa, a multi-entry tourist visas for all nationalities, and a resolution enabling foreign students to bring their families to the country.
Moreover, the UAE recently introduced a medical treatment visa, a five-year residency visa for retirees according to specific conditions, and a 10-year golden residency system.
In detail, in January 2021, the UAE Cabinet approved an amendment to its residency laws allowing foreign university students to bring their families to the UAE, as long as they can afford suitable accommodation and have the financial means to support them.
New residency visa option
Sheikh Mohammed also made reference to “a new Remote work Visa that enable employees from all over the world to live and work remotely from the UAE even if their companies are based in another country”.
That particular visa cost around Dhs1,054 plus valid medical insurance and a processing fee per person.
It’s expected that this updated version of the remote working visa will offer even more inclusivity.
